Oil Product Tank Cleaning

Automatic oil tank cleaning systems for Refined Products like Gasoline, Diesel, and Jet Fuel

Introductionto the MoClean® System

Safe, Efficient, and Automated Cleaning of Product Tanks
Above Ground Storage Tanks (ASTs) containing refined products—such as gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and more—require regular cleaning for inspection, maintenance, or repair, just like crude oil tanks. Traditionally, many of these tanks are cleaned using manual or semi-manual methods, which pose significant risks to safety, cause extended downtime, and create large volumes of waste that require costly disposal.
Oreco’s MoClean® and MoClean-ATS® systems revolutionize the industry by offering automated, non-man-entry cleaning solutions that minimize environmental impact, reduce cleaning time, and ensure the highest safety standards. Powered by the engine of the truck, these systems eliminate the need for personnel to enter the tank, ensuring both efficiency and safety.

How the MoClean
System Works

The MoClean system is based on a truck-mounted cleaning platform, combining traditional vacuum truck features with Oreco’s proprietary technologies. These systems are designed for cleaning tanks efficiently and safely, and all the required equipment is contained within a single truck, including the power source. The engine of the truck (typically a Mercedes truck) powers the cleaning process, including the vacuum pump and media recirculation.

Tank Cleaning Nozzles

Installed in the tank, these nozzles clean the interior surfaces using low-pressure, high-flow cleaning media or wash water. The type and number of nozzles are selected based on tank size and residue type.

Suction & Separation

Sludge is drawn from the tank into the MoClean truck, where it is separated into oil, water, and solid components. The oil is returned for reprocessing.

Re-circulation & Heating

Cleaning media is re-circulated back into the tank through the nozzles. The truck includes a media pump for this, and the media can be heated with steam via the truck’s heat exchanger if necessary.

Discharge & Disposal

The oil fraction is discharged back to the customer’s system for reprocessing, while water is drained to sewer after cleaning.

MoClean systems are engineered for small to medium-sized tanks, particularly for light oils and less challenging residues. For more complex or larger tanks, the MoClean-ATS system offers additional capabilities (more on that below).

MoClean® vs. MoClean-ATS®

One platform. Two levels of performance.

Both the MoClean® and MoClean-ATS® systems are based on the same core truck-based platform, designed to clean tanks safely, efficiently, and with minimal impact on the environment. However, MoClean-ATS provides enhanced capabilities, allowing it to handle more complex tanks and residues.

Oreco offers two scalable solutions that provide the flexibility to meet your operational needs today and in the future. Below, we highlight the differences between the MoClean and MoClean-ATS systems to help you choose the right solution for your tank cleaning requirements. You can always upgrade from MoClean to MoClean-ATS at a later stage.
